The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan is continuing the investigation into the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane, which had crashed near the airport of Aktau city, the ministry said.

“Currently, the investigation commission into the aviation accident involving the Embraer 190 4K-AZ65 aircraft belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines continues its work in accordance with the standards and recommended practices established by Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation,” the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan said, responding to a question about whether it plans to continue or suspend the investigation following the statements by the foreign ministries of Russia and Azerbaijan.

The ministry added that after the investigation is completed, the final report will be published on its official website.

“The report will reflect the established causes of the aviation accident, as well as the conclusions and recommendations of the commission,” the Kazakh Ministry of Transport reported.

On December 25, 2024, an Embraer-type passenger plane of Azerbaijan Airlines, flying from the Azerbaijani capital of Baku to Grozny, Russia had crashed near Aktau, Kazakhstan. There were 62 passengers on board, including 37 citizens of Azerbaijan, 16 of Russia, 6 of Kazakhstan and 3 of Kyrgyzstan, as well as five crew members. The accident had killed 38 people, but 29 people, including three children, had survived the crash.
