President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan met with Vice President of Bulgaria Iliana Iotova at the presidential residence. The Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria is in Armenia on a working visit to participate in the summit of the European Political Community. Welcoming his colleague, President Vahagn Khachaturyan thanked her for visiting Armenia and for participating in the important international summit taking place in Yerevan.

The President emphasized that for Armenia, the consistent development of friendly relations and close cooperation with Bulgaria is of great importance, also referring to the signed joint declaration on strategic partnership, which testifies to the bilateral readiness to further deepen multifaceted cooperation. Iliana Iotova thanked him for the warm reception and hospitality, emphasizing that there are established traditions of cooperation between Bulgaria and Armenia that contribute to strengthening and expanding the multifaceted interaction between the two countries.

During the meeting, the sides touched upon the prospects for expanding bilateral economic cooperation, reaffirming their commitment to developing trade and economic interaction. The importance of the activities of the Armenian-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was emphasized as an effective platform for intensifying business ties and implementing new initiatives. The interlocutors also discussed issues related to the agenda of international cooperation. The President of the Republic stated that in October 2026 Armenia will host COP17 — the 17th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, which will be preceded by a leaders’ summit scheduled for October 16, 2026, in Yerevan. In this context, President Khachaturyan expressed hope that the Bulgarian side would participate in the summit at a high level. The sides also touched upon regional processes, emphasizing that the peace established in the region creates new opportunities for stimulating interregional ties and advancing communication programs. In this context, the importance of the project “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) was noted. Particular emphasis was also placed on the importance of further developing cooperation in the Black Sea region, which is regarded as an important platform for expanding Armenia’s transit and infrastructure capabilities.

During the meeting, the role of interparliamentary cooperation was emphasized as an important factor in strengthening bilateral relations and institutional development. The sides confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, contributing to the further strengthening and development of Armenian-Bulgarian relations. Special attention was also paid to the importance of exchanging best practices in the development and strengthening of democratic institutions and, where necessary, combining joint efforts.
