The incident occurred 11 km west of Sirik, Iran. The captain of the northbound bulk carrier reported an attack by several small vessels, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

All crew members reported that they are safe and that there has been no environmental impact.

"Vessels are advised to exercise caution when transiting and to report any suspicious activity to UKMTO while authorities investigate," the statement said.
