Since the outbreak of the war in the Middle East, India has been actively working with partners, especially Iran and Armenia, to ensure the safe evacuation of Indians stranded in Iran. Sripriya Ranganathan, Secretary for Consular, Passport, Visa and Overseas Indian Affairs in the Ministry of External Affairs of India, stated this at the Yerevan Dialogue 2026 international forum Wednesday in the Armenian capital.
Over 2,600 Indians were stranded in Iran during the war, but their safe evacuation via Armenia was managed to be ensured, Ranganathan added.
