The situation in the Middle East remains tense and unstable. Reports of negotiations between Iran and the US in Islamabad only reflect attempts to establish a dialogue; contacts are irregular and have not yielded results so far.
At the same time, Israel, despite the declared ceasefire, continues to strike Lebanon, and this indicates a de facto violation of the ceasefire. In general, the region continues to be in a state of prolonged escalation, and the risks of further escalation remain.
Armenian News-NEWS.am presents below a brief summary of the main developments that took place in the Middle East on Thursday night.
The US military struck the Iranian port on Qeshm island and the city of Bandar Abbas, Fox News journalist Jennifer Griffin reported, citing a source.
Axios reporter Barak Ravid also reported on the US strikes on Iranian targets in the Strait of Hormuz.
The US military violated the ceasefire by carrying out several attacks in southern Iran, the Iranian military command said on Thursday night.
US President Donald Trump announced that three American destroyers in the Strait of Hormuz were unsuccessfully attacked by Iran.
Trump assured, however, that the ceasefire is still in force despite the Iranian attacks.
