It seems Yerevan did not pay attention Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s vile attacks on Moscow during his visit to Armenia. Mikhail Kalugin, Director of the Fourth CIS Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Russia, stated this in an interview with TASS.

"Of course, Moscow has recorded Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Yerevan [last week], which was clearly inspired by Brussels, and his vile anti-Russian attacks, which the host Armenian side diligently did not notice," the Russian diplomat noted.

According to Kalugin, the holding of the European Political Community and Armenia-EU summits in Armenia fits into the logic of creating an attractive European "mirage" for the Armenian population, especially ahead of the parliamentary elections.

"One circumstance is noteworthy from this point of view. The statement following the Armenian-European summit mentions, I emphasize, the amount of ‘possible investments’ for Armenia of €2.5 billion. This is exactly the same amount that the EU had promised a few years ago, but during that time it could not find,” the Russian MFA official said.

 “That is, the Europeans are trying to ‘sell’ what does not exist, and this is not the first time. Behind the blinding ‘shine’ was also not noticed the fact that the statement mentions the importance of joint work to decommission the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant [of Armenia], one of the pillars of the [Armenian] republic’s energy supply,” the Russian diplomat added.

As Kalugin noted, all this only confirms that behind the obsessive attention of the Europeans to their, as they say, “equal partners,” there is an exclusively utilitarian approach, which has been repeatedly talked about. "No one in Brussels even thought about the interests of Armenia, which until recently sought to occupy an equal distance position in the Ukrainian crisis. The Europeans brought their Russophobic agenda to the [Armenian] republic and, willy-nilly, ‘dragged’ Yerevan into it. In essence, they involved the country as a convenient platform for their political plans," the Russian MFA official noted.
