It is very encouraging, many people are expressing words of support and are receiving very warmly. Chairman of the Meritocratic Party of Armenia and prime ministerial candidate, Gurgen Simonyan, told this to reporters during their election campaign in Yerevan Tuesday.

"For me as well this is the first experience, and I evaluate [it] very positively as a first experience, and I simply feel obliged to the reception of the Armenian people.

Citizens are asking with many problems. The first main issue is the lack of justice, and justice has not been restored in the Republic of Armenia. There were expectations, wishes, and dreams that were not realized. There are numerous social problems, it’s the issue of jobs, the constantly falling and depreciating [Armenian currency, the] dram, the decline in purchasing power. The questions are enormous.

We are sad that Armenia, which has been brought to the brink of disaster over the past eight years, did not make great strides forward, most of the problems remain,” Simonyan said.

When asked if they expect their party to win seats in the next parliament, he replied: “We have hope and, considering the support of our people, we even claim victory and are working for victory. The rest is as the people will want, the citizens will want. We have a unique opportunity, definitely go to the elections, let's register an unprecedented participation rate throughout the nation since [19]91.”

The parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on June 7. The respective campaign season started on May 8 and will last until June 5 inclusive.
