Turkey and Armenia have completed preparations for the launch of direct trade between the two countries, Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) spokesperson Oncu Keceli said.

A number of confidence-building measures have been implemented within the framework of the normalization process with Armenia, which has been underway since 2022. In this context, the necessary bureaucratic preparations for the launch of direct trade between Turkey and Armenia are considered complete as of May 11, 2026, the Turkish MFA spokesperson said on X.

It is also reported that the necessary technical and bureaucratic work is being carried out to open the shared border between the two countries.

Considering the historic opportunity to establish lasting peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus, Turkey will continue to contribute to the development of economic ties and deepening regional cooperation for the benefit of all countries and peoples, the Turkish MFA spokesperson added in his statement.
