The panel of judges of the 22nd Khachaturian International Competition have been announced, the Aram Khachaturian Cultural Foundation reports.

This year, the competition will be held in the “cello” category.

The event, like every year, will start on June 6, the birthday of Aram Khachaturian, the great Armenian composer and conductor.

The panel of judges of this year’s Khachaturian International Competition includes these renowned representatives of the music world: Denis Severin (Switzerland), Martti Rousi (Finland), Meehae Ryo (South Korea), Josephine Knight (United Kingdom), Levon Mouradian (Armenia/Portugal), Gregorio Nieto (Venezuela), and Victor Julien-Laferrière (France).

The competition will be held from June 6 to 13 in three stages.

The winner of the 22nd Khachaturian International Competition will be announced on June 13 during the award ceremony and gala concert.

The mandatory program of the participants’ performances, according to tradition, also includes works by Khachaturian.

The goal of the Khachaturian International Competition is to identify talented young musicians, give them the opportunity for professional advancement, as well as to publicize the cultural heritage of Aram Khachaturian worldwide.

The competition is organized by the Aram Khachaturian Cultural Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia.

The strategic partner of the competition is Freedom Broker Armenia, the sponsor is Yerevan Municipality, and partners are VISA and Acba Bank.

The Khachaturian International Competition is a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC).
