European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos, in a phone call with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, reaffirmed the European Union’s (EU) solidarity with Armenia amid what she described as “growing economic coercion by Russia.”
Kos stressed that “Armenia is a sovereign and independent country, with its people free to choose the country’s path.” “I had a productive call this afternoon with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during which I reiterated the EU’s solidarity with Armenia in the face of growing economic coercion by Russia,” Kos on Tuesday wrote on X.
According to her, the EU is “looking into ways to increase EU support for Armenia in the short term.” She added that the European Union will accelerate its “work bolstering trade and energy links to and within the South Caucasus, supporting Armenia's economic links with its immediate neighbourhood.”
