Representatives of various political forces have been beaten, in various communities, in various provinces. There was an incident yesterday, there was an incident today, and it doesn’t matter which political force this is happening to, Edmon Marukyan, Chairman of the Bright Armenia Party (BAP), on Wednesday stated on Facebook.

“Naturally, we [i.e. the BAP] strongly condemn this. There is a very important circumstance here that the authorities who had said that they are against violence and that no issue should be resolved by violence, the supporters of these authorities are beating people in some places, attacking people. Naturally, they take advantage of the circumstance of being unpunished. But there is one obvious thing that these people should understand that after [the parliamentary election on] June 7 there is June 8, there is life, behave in such a way, live these days in such a way that after the 8th of the month you do not become ashamed, you can look your neighbor, your friend in the face. What kind of behavior is that?

Moreover, don't you take into account that these authorities may lose the elections? What will you do then? You will not have that impunity. Then you said new authorities have come, followers of the former authorities are being persecuted. So behave in such a way that something like this does not happen.

Instead of preventing such incidents, [Armenia’s] law enforcement agencies, the patrol service, go around, see where our cars are parked so that they can come, fine [them]. They have written out so many fines! (...).

Instead of going, catching the criminals, you go around, catch the cars that are in the [parliamentary election] campaign, fine [them]—and only the opposition’s cars.

I condemn all these cases and demand that the law enforcement agencies quickly prevent all this and quickly arrest [them], quickly take [them] to custody. Why? Because detention is carried out in the case of any oppositionist. No one has been arrested, detained yet in connection with yesterday's incidents, while two reports have been filed regarding yesterday's Masis incident," the BAP leader added.

Violence was used Tuesday against activists of the opposition Strong Armenia bloc in the Nor Kyurin village of the Masis enlarged community, in which the local Yerkrapah (Defender of the Land) Volunteers Union chairman took an active part.
