Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, after the announcement of the preliminary results of the parliamentary elections, delivered an address in which he reaffirmed Yerevan’s commitment to a course of peace, regional cooperation, and normalization of relations with neighboring countries.

Answering a journalist’s question about what message he would like to send to the peoples of Turkey and Azerbaijan after the victory of the political force he leads in the elections, the head of the Armenian government stated that official Yerevan’s position remains unchanged.

“The message remains the same. The people of Armenia stand for peace, regional prosperity, and regional cooperation. I hope this will receive a positive response from both Turkey and Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan said.

According to the prime minister, one of Armenia’s key priorities remains institutionalizing the peace process with Azerbaijan.

“We need to institutionalize peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” he emphasized.

Separately, Pashinyan addressed Armenian-Turkish relations. He noted that Yerevan expects further progress in the normalization process and the opening of the state border between the two countries.

“It is necessary to open the border with Turkey. I mean that Turkey should open the border, and it is also necessary to establish diplomatic relations,” the prime minister said.

The head of government also positively assessed the latest steps in the transport sector and expressed gratitude for the decision to open the Akhalkalaki–Kars railway route for Armenian cargo.

“We are grateful for the decision to open the Akhalkalaki–Kars railway route for Armenian goods, both for export and import,” he noted.

In Pashinyan’s assessment, there is currently positive momentum in interaction between Armenia and Turkey, but further efforts are needed to achieve a full result.

“We have very good dynamics in relations with Turkey, and at the moment we are satisfied with it. However, it is necessary to continue this momentum in order to achieve a final breakthrough. I mean the establishment of diplomatic relations and, of course, the full opening of the border,” the prime minister said.

Speaking about relations with Azerbaijan, Pashinyan recalled that the parties have already agreed on the text of the peace agreement and now need to move on to signing it.

“As for Azerbaijan, you know that we have a preliminarily agreed peace treaty. We need to sign it,” the head of the Armenian government said.

The prime minister also named the implementation of the “Crossroads of Peace” transport and logistics initiative as another crucial area of regional policy, which the Armenian authorities view as a project of strategic importance for the entire South Caucasus.

According to Pashinyan, the launch of the project could radically change the economic and transport architecture of the region.

“We need to begin implementing the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ project as soon as possible, as it is capable of fundamentally changing the situation throughout the region,” he noted.

The prime minister stressed that this is not only about economic cooperation, but also about overcoming many years of isolation and blockade-related restrictions.

“This project is of enormous importance because it means overcoming the blockade of our region. This is truly very important news, because our region is turning from a dead end into a crossroads of routes and opportunities,” Pashinyan said.

According to him, the implementation of such initiatives can create new opportunities for the development of all the states in the region and strengthen the atmosphere of long-term stability.
