Since the evening of the previous day, we have been witnessing various arithmetic tricks related to the votes received by the Prosperous Armenia Party. During the vote count, one number was reflected on the CEC [i.e. the Central Electoral Commission] website, but with each subsequent update, another number appeared; moreover, a reduced one. Iveta Tonoyan, the spokesperson for Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) chairman Gagik Tsarukyan, on Monday wrote this on Facebook, in connection with Sunday’s parliamentary elections.

“At this moment, the election headquarters of the Prosperous Armenia Party announces that it will apply for recount, will use all legal tools, and will pursue the disclosure of electoral violations.

Currently, the polling stations in which a recount will be required are being finalized, as well as the grounds for appealing individual decisions and actions are being discussed.

“In addition, the [above] noted does not in any way exclude the appeal of the election results, taking into account the huge amount of electoral violations that we have witnessed throughout the entire electoral process," added the spokesperson for the PAP leader.

As reported earlier, according to preliminary CEC data, Sunday’s votes were distributed as follows: ruling Civil Contract party – 49.825 percent, Strong Armenia bloc – 23.281 percent, “Armenia” bloc – 9.934 percent, and Prosperous Armenia Party– 3.996 percent.

This means that the PAP does not pass the threshold to enter parliament and will not participate in the distribution of mandates. However, the PAP’s votes are very close to 4 percent and if they reach 4 percent, it will participate in the distribution of mandates and get seats in the parliament.
