Russia has increased fish imports from other countries to replace supplies from Armenia. The head of the Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor), Sergey Dankvert, told this to TASS at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Earlier, Russia had imposed restrictions on live fish supplies from Armenia for all Armenian companies, except for two. “We understood that we would have to impose restrictions. Therefore, as a counterbalance, we were opening up supplies from other countries.

For example, in terms of trout supplies, we have reoriented towards Iran and Turkey,” Dankvert said. “In general, the more suppliers we [i.e. Russia] have, the easier it is for us to work.

After all, if we depend on only one [supplier], then a shortage of one or another product may arise. There is no such thing now, we have a great selection," the head of Rosselkhoznadzor added.
