Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has decided to send Anna Hakobyan to the United States to participate in the fourth annual Global First Ladies Academy event. Pashinyan noted in his respective decision that Hakobyan is being sent to the US as the “prime minister’s wife.”

The decision was signed on June 11. The business trip is scheduled from June 26 to July 4. The aforementioned event will take place in New York.

Also, the Armenian premier has instructed his staff to ensure that the expenses of this business trip are reimbursed in accordance with the established procedure. The amount of money planned to be allocated for this purpose, however, has not been made public.

On February 17, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s wife, Anna Hakobyan, had announced that her civil marriage with Pashinyan had ended. “I ask everyone to be discreet, to be polite on this topic,” Hakobyan wrote on Facebook.

People thought that the prime minister and his wife had legalized their marriage and congratulated them.

But on February 27, Anna Hakobyan again posted a video on Facebook, announcing the end of her relationship with Nikol Pashinyan. Hakobyan said that she was leaving the government mansion and moving to a rented apartment, since the house purchased on loan was under construction.

Also, Anna Hakobyan did not rule out that she could be subject to criminal liability. “It’s life, maybe such a development is possible. What can we do? We’ll live, we’ll see,” she said.

And the chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia told reporters that they were studying the decision by the Hakobyan-led My Step Foundation to hold free English courses, since organizations associated with parties participating in elections are prohibited from doing charity work after the election day is set.

At a press briefing on April 23, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that he is making efforts to preserve his family and is happy to have another chance.

Although according to public statements, Anna Hakobyan has ceased to be the wife of the Armenian prime minister, with this decision of June 11, she has the status of “the prime minister’s wife” and is allocated state funding for foreign business trips.
