YEREVAN. – The matter of putting stamps in the passports is resolved at the constituencies. Ordinary ink is mixed with the disappearing ink so that the problem would be solved, Armenia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.   

He added that even if this ink were to remain in the passports, this will not have any bearing on future elections. 

Mukuchyan also informed that the CEC is operatively responding to the reports on election violations. 

“We, too, are following the Internet, trying to respond to those violations in order to verify their authenticity. There are cases when they indeed are authentic,” he noted. 

Commenting on the observation that Sunday’s National Assembly elections are proceeding very actively, Tigran Mukuchyan said: “This is because two elections are being held at the same time. There are also candidates nominated by the majority [election] system in each constituency.”

The CEC Chairman stated that he expects for the elections to end in normal fashion, after which “the results  will be tallied in a rather transparent, open method.”
