Chief of the NATO-member Germany’s air force has threatened to strike Russia's Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg in case of conflict General Holger Neumann, the chief of the Luftwaffe, has said that if Russia attacks any NATO country, the response will be "devastating air strikes" on a number of Russian targets.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Neumann mentioned Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, the Kola Peninsula, and the Russian fleet in the Black Sea as possible targets. According to Neumann, NATO forces are ready to respond immediately to a possible threat.

"Fight tonight means if someone calls me now and says we have the following situation here, we have to be ready now—and we are ready," the German air force chief said.

At the same time, however, the general expressed hope that there will be no war between Europe and Russia.
