By almost any measure, Monday was a superlative day for the world’s wealthiest, Bloomberg reports.

At the close of trading in New York, the 500 richest people on the globe had added $336 billion to their fortunes, the biggest haul ever recorded in a single day, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. That brought their collective net worth to a record $13.3 trillion.

The leader of this list, Elon Musk, became richer by $164 billion in one go, and his fortune is now estimated at $1.27 trillion. At the end of last week, his space company SpaceX went public on stock exchange and became the sixth in the world in terms of capitalization.

Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg added another $9.16 billion to his account during the day, while Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison added $8.92 billion.

Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin added $7.61 billion and $7.01 billion, respectively, while Amazon founder Jeff Bezos added $6.96 billion to his wealth.

This jump was preceded by a rise in the main US stock indexes, as the Dow Jones index rose by 0.92 percent, renewing a historical record, and the Nasdaq index of high-tech companies rose sharply by 3.07 percent.
