After all, it is business and commercial interests that drive political interest, creating trade volumes and people flows that strengthen bilateral relations. Canadian Ambassador to Armenia Andrew Turner stated this during the closing event dedicated to the first anniversary of the Canada-Eurasia Chamber of Trade and Economy (CECTE).

The head of the Canadian diplomatic mission in Armenia described the anniversary of CECTE as an important event that demonstrates the progress made in bringing the business circles of the two countries closer together. He recalled that over the past three years since the opening of the Canadian Embassy in Yerevan, a huge amount of work has been done to expand trade and cultural ties, as well as to intensify intergovernmental dialogue.

The Canadian ambassador to Armenia highlighted the recent visit of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to Armenia within the framework of the European Political Community summit as a vivid evidence of the deepening of these relations.

At the same time, the Canadian diplomat emphasized that without the efforts of the CECTE, it would be impossible to create a direct link that enables businesspersons to communicate directly with each other.

The presence of the Canadian embassy in Armenia, a strong trade team, and the parallel expansion of such a large business structure as the CECTE, inspire great confidence in the Canadian business community when it studies the opportunities of Armenia’s market, noted Andrew Turner.

The Canadian ambassador to Armenia expressed satisfaction with the successful launch of the CECTE and its interaction with existing partners, including the Armenian-Canadian community. He said that thanks to this work, mutual business delegations have been organized, agreements have been signed and events have been held within a year, which have significantly increased interest in Canada in Armenia.

Turner thanked the CECTE leadership for the results achieved, adding that now Armenia and Canada have the opportunity to spread knowledge about each other's economic potential far beyond the borders of the community, to wider business circles.
