In 2011, 10 children’s shelters were working in Armenia. Out of them, 7 are state shelters (3 in Yerevan, one in each, Ararat, Gegharkunik, Lori and Shirak regions.), and 3 private ones (in Yerevan, Kotayk and Shirak regions), Armenia’s National Statistics Service reports.

In the beginning of the year there were 1,102 children at the shelters, in the end of the year that number reached to 1,115; 466 of them are disabled, 293 suffer from chronic mental disorders, 198 are receiving treatment in bed, 128 attend school.
