Tigran Petrosyan, Head of the Food Safety Inspectorate of Armenia, hosted Rishan Chaudhry, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Trade Representative at the US Embassy in Turkey; Demna Dzirkvadze, USDA Senior Specialist at the US Embassy in Georgia; and Edward Eichler, Head of the Economic and Commercial Section of the US Embassy in Armenia.

During the meeting, the export of agricultural products and flowers from Armenia to the US, as well as to other countries transiting through Turkey, issuance of phytosanitary certificates, ensuring traceability of products, registration of businesses in the TRACES system, maximum permissible levels of residues in products, and development of laboratory capacities were discussed.

The parties, considering the problems hindering the development of trade and economic cooperation between Armenia and the US, emphasized the importance of implementing joint measures to overcome them.

Also, an agreement was reached to deepen cooperation between the authorized bodies of the two countries, which will contribute to the increase of trade, the strengthening of economic ties, and the all-round development of the market.
