Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's administration has reacted to Israel's recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

"It is nothing short of hypocrisy for the Israeli administration—which perpetrated the 21st century’s most brutal massacre by ruthlessly slaughtering tens of thousands of innocent civilians, including babies, women, and the elderly—to dare to use historical events as a political weapon." Burhanettin Duran, head of the communications department of the Turkish presidential administration, stated this on X, regarding the Israeli government’s recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

“Israel’s recognition of the events of 1915 as a so-called ‘genocide’ is nothing more than a futile attempt to cover up the blood of innocent Palestinians shed by its own hands, its own state terrorism in the Middle East, and its crimes against humanity committed with impunity,” Duran added.

According to him, “the greatest irony in the history of mankind is that today the very same people who, in violation of international law, are constantly bombing hospitals, schools, holy sites, and refugee camps are speaking about moral and historical duty.”

“Those who are standing before the International Court of Justice on charges of genocide have absolutely no right to teach Turkey history lessons or to assume the role of conscience guardian,” head of the communications department of the Turkish presidential administration added.
