The Zhoghovurd newspaper of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: According to the Zhoghovurd daily’s information, today the CC [i.e. the Constitutional Court of Armenia] will enter the deliberation room today to make a decision on the examination of the case challenging the results of the parliamentary elections [of June 7].

The thing is that the CC judges had 15 days to study the petitions, hear the parties, ask questions, and go to the deliberation room to make a decision. The final part of the decision will be announced on July 4. (...).

According to the Zhoghovurd daily’s information, the general atmosphere within the CC is assessed as relatively calm, but the volume and public importance of the case regarding the election results require maximum concentration from the judges.

It should be noted that the election results are being contested in the Constitutional Court by both political forces that entered parliament and those that did not pass the electoral threshold. In the vast majority of petitions, the main demand is to declare invalid the Central Electoral Commission decision summing up the election results.

At the same time, a number of political forces also demand that the court designate a second round of elections. The Constitutional Court can either leave the Central Electoral Commission decision on the election results unchanged, or declare it invalid. In the latter case, the court can either declare the election results invalid, or, having declared them invalid, establish a new order for the distribution of [parliamentary] mandates, or designate a second round of elections.
