Vehicle sales in India, including motorcycles and scooters, rose in June to a record level for that month. They increased by 21.8% compared with the same period in 2025, reaching 2.6 million units, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).

Retail car sales increased by 28.6% compared with June 2025, to 410,853 units. Vehicles powered by alternative fuels accounted for a record share of their total volume — 40.4%. Their growing popularity is linked to a significant rise in gasoline and diesel prices due to the Middle East conflict, Business Standard reports.

At the same time, vehicles running on gaseous motor fuel accounted for 24.3%, hybrids for 8.3%, and electric vehicles for 7.8%.
