In Mumbai, India, six people were killed after a group of buildings collapsed amid torrential rains that caused widespread flooding, Reuters reports.

Three multi-storey residential buildings collapsed in the Mankhurd area of Mumbai, a slum district, killing five young children and one woman, city authorities said.

The heavy rains also caused trees to fall across the city, resulting in at least three deaths since late June.

The rains also triggered landslides on the expressway connecting Mumbai and Pune, leading to its closure and disrupting transport between the two cities. In addition to road traffic disruptions, some flights and train services were also cancelled.
