NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte arrived in Ankara to take part in the Alliance summit.

In Turkey, he said that new contracts "worth tens of billions of dollars" would be announced on Tuesday at the Defense Industry Forum.

Thanks to many years of investment, NATO is increasing its capabilities, the Alliance chief said.

"We will strengthen our economies through investments in the defense industry from Arkansas to Ankara," he emphasized, calling on allies to "turn economic opportunities into military potential" and invest funds in the acquisition of missiles and air defense systems.

"Turkey's leadership within NATO, its geographical position, and hosting the NATO summit in Ankara are of key importance," NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said.
