Hraparak daily of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: [Opposition] Strong Armenia [Alliance] is sure that they were harmed by being associated with Russia; anti-Russian sentiments [in Russia] have also spread to them and affected the [June 7 parliamentary] elections’ results.

[Russian President] Vladimir Putin's well-known statement in Moscow on April 1 also greatly harmed them. Putin had said: "There are numerous political forces that have a pro-Russian stance... We would very much like all those political parties, figures to be able to participate in domestic political work during the elections."

According to polls, before that statement of Putin, only 13 percent of our [Armenian] society associated [Strong Armenia Alliance leader and Russian Armenian businessman] Samvel Karapetyan with Russia, but after the statement, about 55 percent.
