Iranian companies are fully ready to be engaged in the construction of other sections of the North-South project. The Iranian ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami, stated this at a press conference Wednesday.

The Iranian diplomat added that the advantage of Iranian companies is that they have serious potential from an engineering and technical point of view, as well as in terms of human resources and speed of work.

The Iranian envoy to Armenia said that, taking into account that the sections of this work are located on the border of the two countries, the costs of purchasing construction materials can be significantly reduced if Iranian companies are involved.

“In any case, the decision rests with the Armenian government, which must evaluate the plans submitted by the companies,” Shirgholami noted.

The Iranian diplomat recalled that the project for the construction of Armenia’s Bargushat tunnel has been transferred to a French company, adding that, despite this, Iranian companies can also be involved in its implementation.

Shirgholami noted that earlier there were difficulties in the construction of the third power transmission line between Iran and Armenia.

“However, positive trends have been observed in recent times, and in the coming months we will witness positive changes,” he added.

The Iranian ambassador said that Iran and Armenia aim to increase their trade to $3 billion, increasing the current figures four times.
