A consultation was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during which the results of the study of the wheat value chain and the opportunities for stimulating wheat production in Armenia were discussed, the PM’s office informs.

Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan presented details on the analysis of wheat production and import volumes, self-sufficiency level, wheat yield indicators, and touched upon the main problems of production, assessment of wheat quality and storage.

Subsequently, the minister made proposals aimed at resolving the issues raised. During the discussion, the importance of introducing effective mechanisms aimed at improving the wheat value chain and taking measures in accordance with the current developments and latest trends in the sector was emphasized.

The need to adopt a strategy for intensive wheat cultivation in Armenia was also underscored. Stressing the importance of promoting wheat production in Armenia, Prime Minister Pashinyan instructed those in charge of the matter to map the country’s unused agricultural lands suitable for wheat cultivation, develop a draft investment program, and submit it for discussion.
