Turkey has sold the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems it once purchased from Russia to a Gulf state, claims the pro-government Turkish daily Hurriyet.

“According to my information, the S-400s have been sold to a third country. The deal will be announced today, the S-400s are being sent to a Gulf state. Yesterday, work was underway to eliminate some of the problems, it was reported that they had been eliminated by midnight.

Some mention the United Arab Emirates, others Qatar, it is better to wait for the official announcement,” wrote Hurriyet commentator Abdulkadir Selvi. The Turkish authorities have not yet commented on this report.

Earlier, Hurriyet reported that Ankara is seeking a legal solution that would satisfy the US in order to be exempted from the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) sanctions by the US and return to the production program of the new generation F-35 fighter jets, in connection with which the issue of selling air defense systems to one of the Gulf countries is being discussed.

The Oksijen newspaper, in turn, named the UAE as a potential buyer of these S-400s.
