YEREVAN. – Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) presidential candidate for the next year elections will be former FM Vartan Oskanian instead of its head Gagik Tsarukyan, unless PAP forms a coalition with the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), expert Karen Kocharyan said at a press conference on Thursday.

As a matter of fact all the parties which had participated in the parliamentary election campaign, with the exception of the ARF Dashnaksutyun and Orinats Yerkir (the latter said it is supportive of  Serzh Sargsyan’s candidacy for the next presidential elections), ran a presidential election campaign, the expert said.

“If PAP joins the coalition then it will support the candidacy of the incumbent president, and RPA head Sargsyan, if not, then it will nominate the former FM Oskanian,” Kocharyan said adding it is Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan who unites Tsarukyan and Oskanian.

To note, Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission has issued the preliminary results of the May 6 parliamentary elections. Five political parties and one bloc will be represented in the 131-seat National Assembly (Parliament) of Armenia: Republican Party of Armenia – 44.05%, Prosperous Armenia Party – 30.20%, Armenian National Congress – 7.10%, Heritage Party – 5.79%, ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party – 5.73%, and Orinats Yerkir Party – 5.49%.
