Lusine Avagyan, who had voted in the June 7 parliamentary elections in Armenia, has filed a lawsuit against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, reports a1plus.am.

The reason is Pashinyan's public statement on June 11 that "the [ruling] Civil Contract party received 100 percent organic votes, while the other political forces received 100 percent votes through vote buying."

As per the plaintiff, this statement also applies to her, since she voted for an opposition political force. According to the lawsuit, this does not correspond to reality and tarnishes the honor, dignity, and good reputation of the plaintiff.

The court, in case of ruling in favor this lawsuit, shall obligate the respondent, Nikol Pashinyan, to publicly refute, within five working days in a place accessible to the mass media operating in Armenia and having previously notified the media about this at least 24 hours in advance, the factual information considered to be slanderous against Lusine Avagyan.

Also, the plaintiff demands that Nikol Pashinyan be fined 3,000,000 drams (approx. US$8,200) as compensation for the damage caused by the slander.

In case of ruling in favor of this lawsuit, the previously paid state duty amount of 230,000 (approx. US$627) drams shall be fined from Pashinyan.

The lawsuit has been registered at the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction.

However, it is not yet known whether or not this lawsuit has been accepted for proceedings.
