At Redstone Arsenal in Alabama, combat exercises were conducted using the BRAKER armor-piercing high-explosive charge mounted on a UAV. According to project lead Colonel Vinson Morris of the US Army, it took only a few weeks to turn the concept from an idea into a prototype. The goal of the project is to create a compact, powerful, destructive warhead for a small, maneuverable drone.

In early March, engineers at the Armaments Center began work, Techcult reports. First, they compressed the explosives, then manufactured the casing and integrated the resulting device into an inexpensive disposable drone. Compatibility tests took place at Picatinny Arsenal, where more than ten warheads were produced, one of which was tested on an improvised bunker.

The main outcome of the tests is that drones have gained new capabilities: upon impact, a warhead with sufficient speed and mass successfully penetrates protective layers, soil, and concrete structures, and detonates inside an underground facility.
