A representative of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, the elite units of Iran’s armed forces) said that if U.S. President Donald Trump’s threats to strike Iranian infrastructure are carried out, the country’s armed forces will launch attacks on American facilities in the region.

“If the threats recently voiced by the U.S. president about the army of that country striking the infrastructure of the Islamic Republic of Iran are carried out, then everything that has so far remained untouched thanks to Iran’s restraint — that is, all infrastructure in the region — will be destroyed by powerful strikes from the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, so that not a trace of it will remain, as if it had never existed,” the statement by the military press service says, as cited by the Iranian news agency Fars.

According to the text of the statement, the Strait of Hormuz is a red line for Iran, and the country will not allow U.S. interference in its management.

Earlier, Trump threatened to destroy Iran’s infrastructure, but said he was inclined toward a deal.
