The U.S. National Endowment for Democracy (NED, designated an undesirable organization in Russia) is deliberately slandering cooperation between China and Russia. This was stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian at a briefing while commenting on a report published by the organization.

“The NED report is filled with Cold War thinking and ideological bias, deliberately smears interaction and cooperation between China and Russia, and hypes up the so-called China threat,” he said. The Chinese diplomat emphasized that, under the pretext of promoting democracy, the foundation interferes in the internal affairs of other states, facilitates regime change, provokes division and confrontation, and also engages in ideological infiltration.

The Foreign Ministry representative demanded that the American organization abandon its bias and arrogance, stop political manipulation, and pay more attention to the domestic problems of the United States.

In 2015, NED became the first organization in Russia to be placed by the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office on the list of undesirable organizations. Under Russian law, an undesirable organization is one that poses a threat to the foundations of the constitutional order, defense capability, and security of Russia.
