U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance denied a media report claiming that Iran had warned him that American participants in negotiations with the Islamic Republic were using insider information for financial gain.

“This is completely untrue. I never received such a message,” the vice president wrote on X. In this way, the U.S. vice president commented on a publication by the American portal Drop Site News. According to it, Iranian representatives during consultations in Switzerland in June warned that U.S. presidential special envoy Steve Witkoff and the American leader’s son-in-law Jared Kushner were “abusing” their participation in the negotiations and were “more interested in using insider information to profit in financial markets than in reaching a deal.”

“If I had received [such a message], I would have said that Jared and Steve are trusted members of President [Donald Trump’s] team and very close friends. No one has done more than they have for peace and prosperity in the region. The suggestion that they are trading on insider information is absurd,” Vance added.

As stated in the aforementioned publication, citing an Iranian official, the Islamic Republic believes that people close to Trump, chiefly Witkoff and Kushner, made about $9 billion by “manipulating the market.” The Iranian side also allegedly expressed concern that Witkoff and Kushner were arranging leaks to the media and speaking “almost every day” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as well as with the director of the Mossad intelligence service.
