Following his visit to Kyiv, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reiterated that his country is ready to support initiatives aimed at holding peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

"As Turkey, we are ready to support any initiative that will bring the sides back to the negotiating table and contribute to establishing lasting peace," the minister wrote on X. He also said that, in addition to Andrii Sybiha, who was serving as acting head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, he discussed "the current situation in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict" with other representatives of the country's top leadership.

Speaking about bilateral relations, he called "the approval by the Ukrainian parliament of the Free Trade Agreement [with Turkey], which will create new opportunities for businesspeople and raise the economic partnership to a much higher level," an "important milestone."

Fidan visited Ukraine on July 15-16. One of the aims of the visit was to clarify Kyiv's position regarding the prospects for resolving the conflict.
