The Pentagon concealed information about dozens of U.S. service members wounded last week as a result of Iranian strikes on Jordan. The New York Times (NYT) reported this, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, Iranian forces carried out four strikes against U.S. facilities in Jordan last week. U.S. Central Command officially reported that during the fourth wave of strikes on July 17, two American service members were killed, one is listed as missing, four were hospitalized, and several others sustained minor injuries.

Nevertheless, during the previous three waves of strikes last week, dozens of U.S. service members were wounded, which Pentagon structures did not disclose. In addition, several American military helicopters were also damaged in those attacks. As a Pentagon representative told the NYT, the command is not required to disclose information about the wounded if their injuries are minor and allow them to quickly return to duty. He also added that disclosing such information would help Iranian forces better assess the effectiveness of their strikes and adjust subsequent attacks.
