Goar Meloyan, a lawyer and the third candidate on the Strong Armenia party list, submitted a self-recusal statement to the Central Election Commission, declining the parliamentary mandate. Below is the text of her statement:

“Last year, during an unlawful and shameful period for our statehood, when the political authorities allowed themselves an unconstitutional interference in the affairs of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, the public movement ‘Our Way,’ and later the Strong Armenia party headed by the well-known Armenian philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, entered into an unequal political struggle. They became that ray of hope and the driving force thanks to which we did not falter.

As an active supporter and participant in all opposition movements of recent years, I naturally could not remain on the sidelines this time either, taking on my share of personal and political responsibility. But this path became fateful for me.

Having never been a member of any party or political association, becoming part of this family-team founded on values and patriotism, created by Samvel Karapetyan and Narek Karapetyan, became one of the most serious, responsible, and principled decisions in my life.

During these difficult months, we waged a selfless and devoted struggle. For me, it is a tremendous honor and achievement to have walked this path with thousands of patriotic, courageous, and strong comrades-in-arms. I am sure many of you will recognize yourselves in these lines.

In this short period of time, as a political force only a few months old, we earned the trust of hundreds of thousands of our conscious and homeland-loving compatriots, which is at the same time a tremendous responsibility. And this was under conditions in which our leader Samvel Karapetyan was prevented from participating in the election campaign, and our force was the target of political persecution.

A new stage of a difficult but values-based struggle with multidirectional tasks is beginning. Strong Armenia will carry out complementary activities — both parliamentary and extra-parliamentary.

Today I submitted a self-recusal statement to the Central Election Commission. I will focus my further public and political activities on the following main areas:

  • Institutional development of the Strong Armenia party

Today, more than ever, our country needs principled political forces guided not by personal or group interests, but by statesmanship and national responsibility. I am convinced that strong and mature party institutions are the foundation of long-term change and sustainable statehood.

  • Election monitoring and institutional development

I consider it a priority to properly retrain members of election commissions and proxies, as well as to study and apply new tools using innovative technologies to counter the abuse of administrative resources. The National Assembly elections in June 2026 were marked by a new scale of electoral violations and blatant abuse of administrative resources (which, incidentally, was also recorded by the Constitutional Court formed by the current authorities).

  • Protection of lawful interests and legal support for persons subjected to political persecution

On our agenda are like-minded people and comrades-in-arms, patriotic Armenians unlawfully deprived of their liberty. In addition, unlike the struggle against political imprisonment, the rights of our compatriots who lost their jobs because of their political views are often neglected. From now on, the law firm GM Legal, which I co-founded, will also carry out activities to protect the rights of persons dismissed for political reasons.

  • Revival of public accountability institutions

  • Inventory of socio-economic problems, development of systemic solutions

While continuing to remain a member of the Council of the Strong Armenia party, I express my full support to our leader Samvel Karapetyan, who has been unlawfully held in detention for about 400 days, to Narek Karapetyan, to the Strong Armenia faction, and to our entire large team.

My deep gratitude goes to my strong and bright compatriots; to my family, for silently sharing this difficult path with me; to my relatives and friends, who faithfully stood by me. Thanks to you, I am invincible.

And in conclusion: ‘Strong Armenia’ is not just a name or a phrase. It is our promise to generations, our faith, our vision, and the goal for which we are ready to work tirelessly and with full responsibility.”
