Iran does not control the Strait of Hormuz. This was stated in a statement by U.S. Central Command.
“Today, the naval forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that they control entry to and exit from the Strait of Hormuz, implying that foreign mariners may use only the routes preferred by the IRGC. This is FALSE,” the U.S. military noted.
