The European Union (EU) agreed on the 21st package of anti-Russian sanctions in a reduced format. This was reported on July 23 by Irish Foreign Minister Helen McEntee.

“We are pleased that we agreed on the 21st package of sanctions. Europe supports Ukraine,” she wrote on her page on the social network X.

According to McEntee, the measures adopted against Russia are aimed at disrupting its revenue flows and combating the so-called “shadow fleet.” As the Irish foreign minister explained, they are also intended to undermine Russian logistics chains.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen wrote on her X page that she welcomes this package of sanctions and thanked McEntee for her assistance on this issue. She added that another 32 Russian banks had now been added to the sanctions lists and were prohibited from carrying out transactions. A number of crypto companies and platforms where oil trading was conducted were also included.

Von der Leyen уточнила, что сторонам якобы также удалось сделать «важный шаг» в сторону введения запрета на въезд в ЕС военнослужащих Вооруженных сил (ВС) России. Подробностей по этому вопросу она не привела.
