The commercial vessel Christiana B, sailing under the Liberian flag, was damaged in the Black Sea off the coast of Romania while transporting coal from the United States to Ukraine. This was reported by Romania’s Department for Emergency Situations.

The incident occurred during the night of July 24 in Romania’s exclusive economic zone, about 40 km from the town of Sfântu Gheorghe. The vessel sent out a distress signal, after which rescue ships and a helicopter from the Interior Ministry were dispatched to the scene.

Later, the captain reported that none of the crew members had been injured, evacuation was not required, and the vessel could continue on its own to shore for repairs.

According to preliminary data, the damage may have been caused by a strike from a naval drone or the explosion of a mine. Romanian authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the incident.

This is the second similar incident in the Sfântu Gheorghe area in recent days. On July 21, the Liberian-flagged vessel GAS LISBON, which was carrying propane to a Ukrainian port, caught fire there. Three sailors were injured at the time, one of whom later died. The crew stated that the vessel had been attacked by three drones.
