Flooding caused by brief torrential rains struck a scenic area in Gansu Province (northwestern China) on Sunday afternoon, leaving 10 people dead and 23 injured, local authorities told Xinhua.
Some tourists had set up a campsite in the scenic area of Weiyuan County in Dingxi City and became trapped after the flooding began.
Local public security authorities and fire and rescue services dispatched rescue teams to the scene. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.
