The Armenian church of Surb Nikoghayos (St. Nicholas) in Istanbul's Beykoz district will reopen after a year of restoration work. It was built in 1776, and this year marks the 250th anniversary of its construction.

According to the source, the church will reopen on August 7 of this year. On that day, Patriarch of the Armenians of Constantinople Sahak Mashalyan will also perform a re-consecration ceremony for the church, and two days later, on August 9, the first liturgy will be held there following the restoration.

The church's restoration was carried out by the church's foundation, and the restoration process was carried out by well-known Istanbul-Armenian architect Nazar Binatli.

As part of the restoration work, the church's roof and windows were repaired, and the bell tower was rebuilt in its original form based on archival photographs.
