At least 12 U.S. B-1B Lancer strategic bombers are currently deployed at RAF Fairford in the United Kingdom, according to data from the Fairford Movements portal.

As reported by Axios and the British newspaper The Telegraph, these aircraft carried out raids last week on targets of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The Pentagon has not officially confirmed their use.

During the U.S. military operation “Epic Fury,” American heavy bombers, including B-1B Lancers and B-52H Stratofortresses flying out of Britain, were regularly used to strike Iran’s most important targets, in particular fortified sites for the deployment, storage, and production of ballistic missiles and drones. After the operation was completed, only the B-52H strategic bombers were withdrawn from Britain.

U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with Axios on Monday that the U.S. armed forces would again strike Iran if the current negotiation process proves ineffective.

“We are holding very substantive talks with Iran. If they do not work, we will return to very powerful military operations,” Trump said.

Asked how much time he was giving diplomacy, the U.S. president replied: “Not much time. Either it will happen quickly, or not at all.”

He recalled that on Friday he had ordered strikes on Iran to be put on pause because the countries mediating contacts between Washington and Tehran had asked to give diplomacy one more chance.
