Armenian political figure Garnik Margaryan has passed away; he was 82 years old.

Garnik Margaryan was born in 1944. After finishing secondary school in Yerevan, he was drafted into the Soviet army, after which he continued his education at the Higher School of Border Troops.

In 1982, he graduated from the Academy of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs. He was a colonel of the National Security Service and Internal Troops.

He was an active participant in social and political life. In 2001, he founded the "Hayrenik yev Pativ" (Homeland and Honor) party. In 2003, he was a candidate for President of Armenia.

The farewell ceremony will take place on July 29, at 17:00, at the address: Zovuni village, 1st Street, building 150, "Adana" mourning hall.
