U.S. President Donald Trump attended the farewell ceremony for Senator Lindsey Graham at the Washington National Cathedral, CBS News reports.

The head of the White House arrived at the memorial service shortly before it began, greeted Vice President J.D. Vance, and took a seat in the front row.

Before the ceremony began, journalists’ attention was drawn to a conversation between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Earlier that same day, both leaders held separate meetings with Trump at the White House. The content of their conversation was not disclosed. Later, Netanyahu also spoke with U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President J.D. Vance called Lindsey Graham a man who “could disagree with you without becoming an unpleasant person to talk to.” He said that after one heated argument with Graham over Ukraine, he was sure he had lost the senator’s support for one of his bills, but later learned that Graham had been actively promoting the initiative. When asked why he had done so, Graham replied: “I don’t care at all about that bill. But you do.”

Vance also said that it was Graham who played the decisive role in confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, forcefully pushing back against the accusations made against the judge during the confirmation process.
