The Zhoghovurd newspaper of Armenia writes as follows, in particular: The newly elected Strong Armenia faction of the National Assembly is not yet in a hurry to enter the parliamentary field of work with the whole team.

According to well-informed sources of the Zhoghovurd daily, the faction is planned to meet with businessman [and Strong Armenia Alliance leader] Samvel Karapetyan on Friday or Saturday, during which not only political priorities, but also key positions to be distributed in the parliament should be discussed.

According to our information, Samvel Karapetyan, before participating in the inaugural session of the parliament, wants to personally clarify his team's future actions and reach a final agreement on future official appointments. In fact, key decisions within Strong Armenia are made not on the parliamentary platform, but in the team's political center.

All these appointments should be ultimately discussed during the upcoming meeting with Samvel Karapetyan, after which the faction will participate in the inaugural session of the National Assembly on August 2.

Sources of the Zhoghovurd daily report that Strong Armenia aims to assume the positions of chairs of three standing committees of the National Assembly.

However, there is one important circumstance here: According to the D'Hondt formula, the right of first choice in the process of distributing [parliamentary] committees belongs to the ruling Civil Contract [(CC)] faction. This means that if the CC decides to take any of the mentioned committees, the initial plans of Strong Armenia may be seriously revised.

Thus, although the initial distribution of parliamentary positions and spheres of responsibility in Strong Armenia is already being outlined, the final picture will become clear after the planned meeting with Samvel Karapetyan and political agreements on the distribution of parliamentary committees.
