Mark Zuckerberg, the co-founder and CEO of Meta, said in an interview with the Financial Times that the US authorities should not block Chinese models to gain a leading position in artificial intelligence (AI).

In his opinion, banning advanced Chinese AI technologies is not an effective way to increase the competitiveness of American companies.

Zuckerberg's statement came amid discussions on AI regulation and the release of a new model, Kimi 3, by Beijing startup Moonshot AI, which is already approaching the closed software developments of OpenAI and Anthropic in its capabilities.

This week, the administration of US President Donald Trump plans to announce the launch of a voluntary platform for developers of neural networks, and this will enable to test models before the final release. According to Zuckerberg, such checks and expert assessments can be useful for the industry if carried out by specialists. He added that the giants of this industry can try to influence legislative regulations in order to advance their own interests.
