US President Donald Trump's claims about talks between Tehran and Washington are false. Iran is only holding talks with Oman to ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said.

"We [i.e. Iran] are not holding any talks with the US at the moment. We are currently holding talks with Oman to reach an agreement on a route to ensure safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz," Baghaei stated during a press conference.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that his country and Iran on Monday would begin new talks on a peace agreement.
